Terms of use
These terms cover this website and the public register on it. They are not the certification agreement — that is a separate signed contract, and nothing here changes it.
What these terms cover
This page governs your use of umacerts.ae, including the directory of certified clients and the certificate verification page. If you are certified by UMA, the relationship between us is governed by your certification agreement, which is a signed contract and takes precedence over anything on this page.
The register is authoritative; everything else is description
The directory and the verification page read the live certification record. They are the authoritative statement of whether a certification is in force, and they are deliberately available to anyone without a login.
A printed or emailed certificate is a copy. If a document you are holding disagrees with the register, the register is correct — a certification can be suspended or withdrawn after a certificate has been printed, and the document in your hand cannot know that. Check the number.
The rest of this site describes standards, processes and requirements in plain language so that they can be understood. Those descriptions are summaries written in good faith. Where a summary here differs from the standard itself, from a regulator's requirement, or from your certification agreement, the standard, the regulator and the agreement govern.
What a certificate means
This is worth restating on the page where people look for the legal position. A UMA certificate attests that a management system was audited against the named standard, for the scope stated, and found to conform on the evidence seen at the time.
It is not a warranty of any product or service, not a statement of legal or regulatory compliance, not a guarantee of future performance, and not a representation that the certified organisation is better than any other. Relying on a certificate as though it were any of those things is a misreading of what it is, and one we would rather correct in advance.
Using this site
You may read, quote and link to anything here. We ask that you do not:
- present material from this site as though it came from someone else, or alter it and continue to attribute it to UMA
- scrape the register at a rate that degrades it for other people — it exists to be checked, and we would rather it stayed available for that
- use the UMA name, marks or certification mark other than as permitted. Certified clients: the rules are on the quality and marks page and in your agreement. Everyone else: the mark is not yours to use.
- attempt to interfere with the site, or with the integrity of what the register reports
Accreditation status
Nothing on this site claims accreditation UMA does not hold. Our current status is stated on the company page and in the footer of every page. If you find anything here that implies otherwise, tell us — that is a defect and we will correct it.
Availability
We intend the register to be available whenever someone needs to check a certificate, and we monitor it. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we do not accept liability for loss arising from the site being briefly unreachable.
If the register cannot be reached, it will say so rather than showing an empty result. "We could not read the register" and "there is no such certificate" are different answers, and the page never conflates them.
Links to other sites
The updates feed links to material published by standards bodies, accreditation bodies, regulators and the trade press. We link to sources because they are authoritative and we are not; we do not control them and we are not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement of the organisation publishing it.
Liability
We take care that what is published here is accurate, and we correct errors when we find them or when they are reported. To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for loss arising from reliance on the descriptive material on this site — as distinct from the register, which is the authoritative record and which we stand behind.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the courts of Abu Dhabi have jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update this page. Substantive changes to published processes, deadlines or the rules on marks are changes to what UMA has publicly undertaken to do, and they are made in the procedures behind them before they appear here — not the other way round.
